As we worked our way out of the city, pedestrians were in awe as the cavalry of Porsches sped by with smiles and phone cameras pointed in our direction on every street. The morning leg of the journey led us to the Château de Baronville located between Paris and Chartres. 2.7 cars, which, on average have a value of half a million dollars, were sourced thanks to a network of Porsche collectors across Europe – the cars shipped or driven to meet us for an incredible road trip. Upon arriving at the hotel, what can only be described as a Porsche parade was waiting outside the entrance – the entire street filled with a combination of vintage and modern Porsches. 2.7 was unveiled 50 years ago on October 5, 1972. The launch was held in Paris because it was in this very city that the Porsche 911 Career R.S. 2.7 Limited Editions in honour of the classic car’s 50th anniversary.
